About Us
"If The Host
doesn't have a
a good time,
the guests won't
Either"
The Crosby Street Kitchen was founded in New York in 2009 by Sander Kooijman after he realized there was a demand amongst his friends for good and stylish but still affordable private cooking.
At that time Sander was traveling a lot and had organized and attended many dinners and had found one thing to be true no matter what the occasion: if the host does not have a good time, the guests don't have a good time.
This is the simple philosophy behind the Crosby Street Kitchen: listen to our clients and execute their vision and their vision alone.
Sander grew up in The Netherlands where he was interested in cooking and gastronomy at a young age. While in college Sander earned money on the site by cooking private dinners, something he continued to do when he moved to New York to go to film school. Eventually this hobby became his work and the Crosby Street Kitchen was born.
Sander enjoys multiple cuisines but his favorites are French, Indonesian and yes, Dutch. He misses smoked eel from his native country.
